This session was one of my favorite sessions to date!! I got to spin my creative wheels a little bit more than I normally do and I LOVED IT!
When Katie reached out to me I knew she was the client I needed in my life; her kindness and genuinely fun personality fit so perfectly with me, I just couldn’t wait to meet her! We were tossing around the idea of doing a maternity milk bath session – she thought they were interesting & different but little did she know I HAVE BEEN DYING TO DO ONE OF THESE SINCE I STARTED!
As soon as Katie sent me photos of her friend Sarah’s gorgeous home that was it for me, I knew I had to shoot this session, no ifs ands or buts about it!
Fast forward to Katie’s session day and I was so so excited! I showed up ready to shoot, milk cartons and all haha Now for those interested, I’d like to share with you what I got for this session. It’s super simple and you really don’t need much :: I purchased two gallons of milk (I only used maybe 2 – 3 cups of whole milk, you definitely don’t need much depending on the look you’re going for. I wanted something more faint and foggy looking), 4 bouquets of different flowers (I went to Safeway the day before and got 4 sets of $5 bouquets – it’s important that you know the color you want to focus on and then build from there so you have a consistent but diverse style). I clipped the stems the night before and put them in a vase of water & flower food and then refrigerated the flowers over night. If you’ve worked weddings then you know what kind of nightmare can happen if flowers aren’t chilled before use (a.k.a. you don’t want yellow wilted roses). I brought my scissors with me to the session and clipped them all there as I plopped them into the tub. I brought my own white sheer drapery and greenery with me to add an extra touch of pizzazz to the session. But that’s all it takes! Super simple!
Katie was an absolute stunner in her lace coverup and pearls. Her and the hubs are actually going to be surprised with the gender when their little love is born and I just thought that is the coolest thing! The suspense would kill me, but I truly admire couples who can stick to that for 9 months! I’ll be hanging out with these two precious peeps again this weekend for more maternity magic, but before that happens let’s cut to the chase here and reminisce through some of my favorite shots from her milkbath session!
